My first day at bootcamp (and the morning after)

Back in August, my counterpart "Meredith" started Ormond Adventure Boot Camp for Women. I sat back amazed that she was was so dedicated in waking up at 5am to go work out. I am not exactly the definition of a morning person so the early morning class was not for me. After seeing what 2 months has done for her, I made a vow that I would start Boot Camp in November.

As "Meredith" has been sharing her sweat, pain and tears, I too will share my experiences with Boot Camp. I am 30 years old and used to be an athlete. I played multiple sports in High School and used to work out quite a bit until I hit my mid twenties. Then I gave up. I want to take action before its too late.

Yesterday was my first day at Boot Camp. I was a bit nervous going in, mostly being I had stayed up a little too late on Sunday and had one too many glasses of wine. I already knew Jen so I had a feeling she wouldn't be easy on me. She corrected me a few times and pointed out that I needed to do deeper lunges because I am tall (so not fair...) but other than that, she made the work out decently enjoyable as she kicked our butts.

I learned that I truly hate tricep pushups. I don't even think hate is a strong enough word for my feelings on those things. The cardio was intense but I got through it ("Meredith" said it was the worst she ever had it). I had a few moments that I sat there and thought what on earth did I sign up for. The sky did spin a few times but I think that was a result of the Chardonnay from the previous night. I love the 9:30 class since it is on the intercoastal under the Granada Bridge. I got to stare in jealousy at all the boaters while I was doing an obstacle course. It definitely made it easier to get through the hour course.

My muscles started aching around 8pm last night. I took some ibuprofen and woke up this morning and had muscles aching that I didn't know were in my body. It isn't my worst post workout experience but I do hurt.

I am very excited to start this venture. I am going to do my hardest to attend all three classes during the week. Stay tuned tomorrow to see how I really feel about that!
