Week Two Down, One Week Left for This Session!

The old me would have said one week to go! I really like Fridays class. I think that there is a sense of accomplishment of the fact that I am off work on Fridays and made it there anyway! Not to mention its the end of the week! The structure of the class on Friday is a little different and I really like it. It makes the time go by pretty quickly...I mean, isn't that whats its all about?? In my typical baby steps fashion, I had my first protein drink today! It wasn't bad, i.e. I didnt wince one time!

Today, I want to talk to you a little bit about girls using weights when they work out. Ormond Boot Campers use small dumbbells when we work out...don't worry...they are little guys. The good news is, if you gain some muscle you will decrease in size. Studies show that women dont normally gain size from using weights when they work out. We have less of those male hormones that make muscles grow. So, please dont think you are gonna turn into the Incredible Hulk if you add weights to your routine.
You will not look like this!

Are you aware that if you add muscle to your body, you will be able to eat more without gaining weight? That makes the pasta argument that much more exciting! This is because for each pound of muscle you gain, you increase your resting metabolism. Studies performed by Wayne Wescott, PHD found that the average woman who performs weightlifting 2 to 3 times a week for 2 months will gain nearly 2 pounds of muscle and will lose 3.5 pounds of fat. Thanks to Girly Fitness for these facts!

School starts for your little ones on Monday, but try to stay focused and stay on your routine. If you have been reading this blog and looking on the website and thinking this is something that might be for you (it is!!)...you can come next week and start or get your mind and your family into a routine NOW and then come join us for a fresh new session. Let the kids go back to school for next week and the week after when we are off and be ready to roll on September 8th when we start a new session. You can do this, because I can and I am!

Have a good weekend and drink lots of water!
